Who am I?
As this most important question of this life lingers and marinates within, there is a realization that many wants to know the motivating factors - and the face - behind a website like this. I am not much for talking about myself, which I know is a prerequisite to play in the online game today. I rather focus on that which is beyond. Letting life speak for itself, rather than adding to the stories with more narrative. But there is also a part of me that treasures relating, connecting, sharing that which we are. Hence, hello and blessings to you!

HANSA : an observer of Truth, a student of Life, an open book, a beautificator : with the aim to share golden nuggets of ancient teachings that nurtures contemplation and that have touched the depths of this being. Nothing seems more important to be honest. Let’s not waste more time : let’s find balance and healing, so that we can attend to the great mystery of Life : living the Truth.
A few things that holds this heart : silence : woods, rivers, meadows and mountains : moments with my loved ones : dancing in the rain : deep conversation : satsang : early morning sadhana : connection through silence and language alike : writing : reading : beading : growing food : feeding people (on all levels). The simple things in life...
In love and gratitude - all ways
background
Hansa Devi has her heart in nature and deep silence. Her personal sadhana is to embody yogic values and living a sattvic, conscious, sustainable and simple life. She serves the greater community by showing up for others on the path, in a myriad of ways. VICHARA and NO MIND MALA are some of her means of doing so. She practices Ashtanga yoga, studies vedic and yogic philosophies at depth, and lives by the principles of Advaita Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism. She has nurtured a steady sadhana for the last 22 years. She lives in the beautiful Colorado mountain town Ridgway, with her husband Jyoti and husky Satya. She has been teaching in Ridgway since 2010.
The journey started with studies in Buddhism and mindfulness, slowly merging with the teachings of the Vedas and Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism). As such, we are students of Vedanta in the lineage of Shankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Mooji, and others. What we share is undoubtedly infused with the Vedanta perspective, but we are inclusive in our approach and have our heart open to other traditions. Our personal physical practice is rooted in Ashtanga Yoga, as of the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Ashtanga Yoga in the lineage of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and Sri K Pattabhi Jois. But the journey has over time has been infused with blessings from other lineages as well, such as Vipassana meditation in the lineage of S.N. Goenka, as well as consistent sadhana and study for numerous years, prior to Ashtanga, in the lineage of Sivananda Saraswati and Satyananda Saraswati. The past five years have brought a deep dive into Kashmir Shaivism which energetically have tied up any loose ends and made the past two decades of study come together as a cohesive whole. We are eternally grateful for Rupert Spira, Swami Muktananda, Jaideva Singh, and others, for having shared the traditional tantric teachings in such an eloquent and transformative way.
With this said, no matter our personal journey, it is important to note that what we share here is beyond any particular method or tradition. Our aim is to target that which is the common thread through any lineage and practice.
